Viva Vivaldi ~Viva Venice! ![]()
I love music! I love all kinds of music, but I especially love the music of Antonio Vivaldi. This season we will discover why this particular composer’s music still captures the hearts and minds of people the world over. We will also enjoy learning about his beloved city of Venice, one of the most romantic cities of Europe. Our fall season begins with the arrival of Gino Francesconi, Archivist of Carnegie Hall, as he shares with us during our luncheon and style show, “Viva Fashions,” the story of the first American recording of Vivaldi’s ever popular “The Four Seasons.” After he shares a little Italy with us, we share Texas with him in a “Texas Style Dinner and Program,” where he is the program. The East Texas Symphony Orchestra open its 65th Anniversary season with a performance of “Spring” and “Winter” from “The Four Seasons,” featuring violin prodigy Shannon Lee. Join us after the concert for a Gala Reception sponsored by our League. October will take us to the beautiful Chapel of Marvin United Methodist Church to hear the Tyler Classical Consortperform “Vivaldi Favorites,” with harpsichord, flute, cello and voice. You will not want to miss this! Winter will find us enjoying “Notes di Natale” (Notes of Christmas), Venetian style Game Days, the world renowned Classical Kids Live! performance of “Vivaldi’s Ring of Mystery,” and a valentine escape to “Café Venice” with the TJC Jazz Combo. Spring ushers in the grand highlight of the year with the Women’s Symphony League Ball, “Carnival of Venice.” Come experience the splendor of the Venetian ballroom, coupled with the intrigue of a Venetian mask. Start dreaming of lazy summer days as The East Texas Men in Harmony provide the final performance of the season, “ Moonlight Serenade,” barbershop style. Please come and discover the wonderful music and culture of Antonio Vivaldi, and enjoy all of the Women’s Symphony League fundraisers, meetings and programs. In so doing, you will be fulfilling our mission to support and promote the growth of the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, and encourage music education in our community. Let’s do it together, “Venetian Style!” Arrivederci! Joi Smith |
